Job Description

The Director of Innovation is responsible for managing the innovation efforts that identify strategies, business opportunities, and new technologies; they will then develop new capabilities for disruptive innovation to be explored and monetized within Correct Craft. The Director of Innovation will manage a transparent and efficient innovation process by focusing on creating networks, harnessing idea development, and leveraging the deep industry and subject matter expertise within the Correct Craft group of companies.

Partnering with Correct Craft company leaders, the Director of Innovation will form and lead collaborative teams of subject matter experts to explore emerging technologies, processes, and strategies that have the possibility to disrupt and change the future of the marine industry. This leader will be responsible for managing each project in a way that delivers a comprehensive assessment and implementation of the sponsored project within the approved time frame and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify key technologies, software, and processes that have the potential to disrupt the marine industry by working with both internal and external experts.
  • Develop innovation goals, design project charters, and update Correct Craft leadership on project status.
  • Manage the research and experimentation phase of development to ensure project success.
  • Manage relationships with various third-party suppliers and contractors.
  • Lead collaborative teams from throughout the Correct Craft companies to integrate emerging technologies and processes into our companies.
  • Develop and implement procedures and process controls to manage and plan production activities to ensure schedules and business objectives are achieved.
  • Manage cross-functional teams with different viewpoints to reach a singular objective.
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment by ensuring employees are following safety protocols consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and employee development.

Preferred Knowledge, Education and/or Experience:  

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8-10 years of experience in the marine industry, engineering, or similar research and development background.
  • Program & Project Management, including budget management.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution.
  • Able to plan, direct and delegate work to others, assess performance, and make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to work with minimum direction and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills in order to analyze, organize and present data and information using Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint).
  • A self-starter who takes a proactive approach.
