Job Description

Job Description: The Maintenance Specialist/Purchaser will be responsible for maintaining all production equipment, obtaining quotes, purchasing and submitting purchase orders for materials and supplies with vendors, and maintaining inventory of materials and supplies while fostering positive vendor relationships. Additionally, it is the specialist’s responsibility to make sure all equipment at the Merritt Island facility is always fully operational.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement facility programs/functions; responsible for maintaining record-keeping systems for these programs; analyze results and make recommendations; examples include: preventative maintenance, pest management, custodial equipment repair and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain equipment through inspection or maintenance request forms for repair.
  • Maintain inventory records; place and manage orders for materials and supplies.
  • Inspect shipments for missing items and damages; store supplies in designated areas.
  • Participate and make suggestions toward the development of the facility in support of the overall strategic plans
  • Explore, identify and participate in initiatives, processes and procedures to improve operational efficiencies while assuring quality; analyze improvement initiatives; make sure implementation is initiated
  • Maintains safe working conditions in his/her area. Continually works on safety awareness with associates.
  • Continually works on process improvement and department efficiency. This includes recommendations to improve: production methods, equipment performance, overall work quality, working conditions, and use of equipment.

Knowledge, Education and or Experience preferred:

  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment, industrial facility, machining facility
  • An equivalent combination of education/trade schooling, certifications, and experience may be substituted for a college degree at the discretion of management.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, carpentry, pneumatic tools, CNC machine repair, overhead hoist, safety.
  • Knowledge of electrical 480v/240v 3phase, 24v low voltage.
  • Knowledge of composite spray equipment (gelcoat, resin, spray core).
  • Knowledge of fanuc controls, indramat-rexroth.
  • Strong knowledge of plant/OSHA health and safety standards and compliance, and a fundamental understanding of applicable governmental regulations.
  • Solid understanding of buildings, grounds and security protocols.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a work environment/climate of mutual respect, safety and cleanliness.
  • Able to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions.
  • Good verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and productively to all levels of personnel in the plant.
  • Ability to work as a team member toward overall company objectives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information. This includes, but is not limited to: performance, illness, investigations and personal information.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical blueprints/ schematics ,safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.
  • Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to manipulate data in Excel and create charts and simple formulas
  • Maintain a clean driving record and capable of qualifying for inclusion on our corporate insurance plan.
  • Must be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR)

 

Physical Requirements:

 

·       Must be able to work in non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature.

·       Must be able to work outside exposed to all weather conditions.

·       Must be able to sit, stand and bend for extended periods of time.

·       Must be able to wear proper safety equipment when necessary.

·       Must be able to use and maintain a variety of hand tools including screw gun, drill, saw, etc.

·       Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.

·       This is a safety sensitive position.

·       This position requires the ability to drive a company vehicle and trailer during working hours.
