Job Description

Provide input to Product Engineering and Design teams during new product development that could benefit the operations team (DFM) without compromising the project intent.  Improve model builds during the development stage to identify potential issues during the operational stage.  The objective is to monitor the engineering and design process to achieve best practices in the design and manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops new manufacturing jigs and fixtures for current models and new models still in development
  • Documents all updates to new parts manufactured according to model.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Industrial Engineering (IE) team in developing ways to integrate the flow of the new models into production, including helping to update Work Instructions and Standard Assembly Worksheets.
  • Refers to the CAD model when confirming engineering/design intention
  • Helps improve the process of build
  • Collaborate with the IE team to update work instructions.
  • Be a Resource to the Warranty and Service Parts teams for field support. This may include writing work instructions specific to field installations
  • Creates work instructions to support the warranty and service parts department.
  • Supports Engineering team as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Education, and or Experience required:

  • Four (4) year post-secondary degree, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering
  • CAD design experience
  • Mechanical Engineer experience
  • Experience working in boat manufacturing
  • Ability to drive a Forklift
  • Upholstery installation knowledge
  • Hull & deck rigging knowledge
  • Excellent organizational skills and be self-motivated
  • Use of general hand tools (i.e.: drills, wrenches, hammers)
  • Operation of table router machine
  • Ability to operate the hoist and overhead cranes
  • Ability to operate a table saw

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed
  • outside air temperature.
  • Be able to bend properly at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Must be able to wear proper safety equipment.
