Job Description

The Business Analyst, Financial Systems will serve a critical role in the execution of Correct Craft’s digital strategy with respect to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in the areas of cost accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and financial reporting.  The ideal candidate will have had previous experience working on project teams focused on implementing ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.  This position will be involved in all phases of the ERP implementation from initiation to deployment.  This position will partner closely with the power users in the finance function to understand business requirements and translate them into solutions through system configuration. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Constructs Process Flow Diagrams (10%):  Interviews business process leaders to develop visual depictions of key businesses processes.  Facilitates the transition from the current state to the future state through the creation of value stream maps and swim lane diagrams that complement the Business Requirements Document.
  • Documents Business Requirements (20%):  Participates in business process reviews and functional requirements sessions to identify and document critical business requirements in the form of formal Business Requirements Documents.
  • Data Conversion (20%):  Analyzes historical data residing in legacy ERP systems to map, transform and translate data to the new target system.  Works with the business users to make sure all critical data is identified with respect to master data, mandatory, fields, and historical balances are documented in the form of a data conversion plan.
  • System Testing (30%): Develops testing plans to support the end-to-end testing of the order to cash and procure to pay and processes as part of the initial ERP implementation.  Writes specific test cases with to each business process and includes critical components of the plan, specifically: required test data, testing steps (script), success criteria, and error conditions.  Manages the progress of the testing phase by documenting errors and identifying the steps to correct the error.  Retests failed scenarios and documents outcomes.  Ensures that users sign off when test scripts have been executed and completed successfully.
  • Report Writing and Development (10%): Leverages the report writing tools within Epicor to develop reporting dashboards and management reports by leveraging their knowledge of the Epicor data structures and sourcing the data from the transactional systems.
  • System Configuration and Administration (10%):  Performs system administration functions as part of the initial ERP implementation including global company settings, parts master, vendor master, customer master, etc.  Responds to end-user issues regarding functional issues with the ERP system.  Performs root cause analysis and formulates solutions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Organizes and prioritizes critical tasks to meet project timelines as part of the ERP implementation.  Identifies resources required to complete tasks and escalates issues when conflicts occur.  Updates project status (start dates, end dates, resource allocations) using tools such as Microsoft Project and Google Smartsheets.
  • Understands relational data structures and leverages tools such as SQL in to retrieve transactional data.  Models and organizes data to leverage end-user reporting tools such as Power BI. 
  • Understands the fundamental concepts regarding cost accounting and financial reporting.  Can interpret financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and take the initiative to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and make decisions within the functional area of responsibility with minimal direct supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working for a mid-sized manufacturing company with a multi-location manufacturing footprint.
  • Experience with an ERP or large-scale system implementation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in critical thinking and root cause analysis in fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Embraces the concept of continuous learning and self-improvement and strives to become a rounded business professional through self-learning and post-graduate education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally
  • Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary
