Job Description

The Technical Warranty Representative evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to replacement of faulty component. Prepares forms to indicate repair-cost estimates and recommendations. Reviews repair-cost estimates with Warranty and Technical Services Manager to secure agreement on course of action.  In the role, the Representative will have a high level of technical knowledge regarding various versions of End Users and PEG’s Product.  Will have knowledge of related reference material to support customer requests, Warranty Manager and Warranty Technicians.

Qualifications

CORE POSITION JOB FUNCTIONS:

50% On-site Engine Technical Support

  1. Provide on-site technical support at the Pleasurecraft manufacturing facility
  2. Provide hands-on time-critical troubleshooting and support for Pleasurecraft Marine Engines
  3. Respond to dealer questions
  4. Provide warranty support at remote sites
  5. Support engine testing & support
  6. Assist with engine testing on location
  7. Write technical documentation (work steps) to support the installation technicians
  8. Maintain approved current Job Instructions for the Technical Warranty Representative position

50% Dealership Service Support

  1. Promote Pleasurecraft Engine Group’s products during all conversations with shareholders
  2. Write service bulletins (gather engineering & operation support as required)
  3. Service school training & curriculum development support
  4. Answer service request calls & e-mail, and enter documentation in PEG’s systems as required
  5. Provide OEM installation training and certification customers
  6. Perform other duties as required
  7. Travel as required

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Required: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of technical/mechanical training
  • High level of  professional communication skills with the ability to build positive internal and external relations in all communications.
  • High level of reliability, and self-motivation
  • Positive attitude with excellent phone skills
  • Professional, respectful interpersonal communication, email, social media, etc.
  • Ability to learn and be productive on new software and computer systems within two weeks.
  • General knowledge of the Company’s technical products, materials and processes.
  • Ability to support the Company’s goals and mission.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships within the internal and external  business community.
  • Must use excellent, ethical business practices and good judgment in dealings.
  • Ability to remain focused on a task for extended periods.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the boating  or closely related industry with an understanding of common terms.
  • 3-5 years of experience in engine technical support with an understanding of common terms.
  • Ability to multitask to complete assignments accurately and on schedule.
  • Above average job stability.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in business or technical area of study
  • Experience in the inboard boating industry
  • Experience of  2 – 5 years in a warranty role
  • Ability to work under pressure
