Job Description

The Machine Operator will setup, adjust and operate CNC or manual grinders to perform a series of grinding operations such as O/D, I/D, boring, and facing on components used for the manufacture of precision mechanical components.  Follow quality and safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.  Moderate physical demand is required to insert tooling, setup work centers, inspect work pieces and make machine adjustments, which is equivalent to continuously lifting or moving light weight material.  Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for an entire shift.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to work second-shift hours Monday - Thursday from 5PM to 4AM.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to use hand tools, change worn machine accessories such as grinding wheels, finishing stones, and tool inserts
  • Previous experience reading and interpreting blue prints and work instructions written in English
  • Basic experience using measuring devices and interpreting data
  • Ability to record production data on standardized forms
  • Desire and ability to meet customer product and quality specifications
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of computerized machines, gauges, and hand tools
  • General knowledge of material handling, manufacturing processes, quality control systems
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and decimals
  • Respond promptly to a sound or light signals when they occur
  • Concentrate on a task over several minutes without being distracted
  • Physically move objects safely by using proper lifting techniques
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Team mindset, respectful, cooperative and considerate towards others on the job
  • Good reliability and attendance
  • Ability to work overtime is required based on business needs
  • Use of excellent ethical business practices and good judgement in dealings
  • Positive attitude and ability to support the Company's goals and mission

Preferred:

  • Two years of similar experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency of machine setup and operating precision grinding machines
  • Similar training as acquired in a two-year technical school program
