Job Description

As a Senior Design & Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead a variety of product design and development activities. Your opportunities include leading engineering efforts in component layout, structural design, assemblies, and master model design for new development process. You will have the responsibility from concept to production in support of the MP new development process.  The incumbent can be regionally located either in Orlando, FL, Merritt Island, FL, or Sweetwater, TN. 

 

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as engineering subject matter expert (SME) to design, develop, optimize systems and components
  • Lead complex and high visibility projects through all phases of new product development
  • Contribute and lead activities to provide product solutions during the development process (FMEA’s, DFMA, Lean)     
  • Partner with clients to ensure products meet specifications, cost, performance, and quality
  • Create, track and report against established costs, deliverables, and timeline throughout the product/project
  • Schedule and support design reviews with clients and team
  • Collaborate with team, other business functions, and partners to achieve project goals and timeline
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize
  • Support and coordinate engineering changes
  • Provide direction, recommendations, and clarification on new development projects

Knowledge, Education and Experience includes but is not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Bachelor’s in Naval Architecture or related marine engineering field preferred
  • ·5+ years of experience in new product development
  • Strong skill set in 3D CAD, preferably NX
  • 5+ experience in Class A Advanced surface modeling
  • Knowledge in SolidWorks/PDM preferred
  • Significant experience working and supporting technical, cross-functional teams
  • Boating Experience, not required but preferred
  • Practical experience with sound technical skills, analytical ability, decisive, good judgment, and strong operational focus
