Job Description

Summary: 

The Project Engineer is directly responsible for ensuring accurate component specifications in the design and development of products and any other duties that would be assigned.  This position will focus on jigs and fixtures required for successful integration of products into production with some product development work as needed. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and design component specifications for mechanical systems from design through manufacturing completion.
  • Develop jigs and fixtures required to accurately locate, install, or support components in production.  This can include small or large fiberglass parts, machined metal components, upholstery substrates, and various other components depending on the needs of the project.
  • Generate engineering models, drawings and bill of materials for new designs.
  • Approve mechanical models and drawings for release.
  • Generate engineering change notices as required.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of new products, programs and strategies.
  • Ensure and acquire component and system compliance with industry standards.
  • Evaluate vendor supplied items for their suitability regarding fit, finish and performance.
  • Certification of products to include USCG and NMMA standards.
  • Supervision of compliance testing whether completed internally or externally.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • 3D CAD Modeling experience, preferably SolidWorks
  • 1-2 years’ of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to manage own work without direct supervision
  • Strategic mindset with solid technical and analytical ability
  • Must have valid driver license (subject to MVR)

Preferred:

  • Experience in marine industry
  • Watersports and/or boating experience
  • Ability to trailer a boat
  • Desire to work in a “hands on” environment
  • Technical drawings and documentation
