Job Summary: 

The Industrial Sewer Lead is a key position within the Upholstery department. You will be responsible for approximately 10-15 employees and will help department leadership to oversee quality, output, and process improvement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain uniform methods of operation for the Sewing area
  • Ensure important information from department supervisor/manager is communicated to employees 
  • Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes and department initiatives
  • Read and understand product orders to ensure proper construction
  • Work closely with department leadership on employment related issues including hiring, training, disciplinary actions and counseling as necessary
  • Maintain compliance with all safety directives and requirements

Job Details:

Rate of pay for a lead position is $20-24 per hour depending upon experience.

This is a first shift position with a 4 day work week: 5:30AM - 4PM, Monday - Thursday. Overtime may be required at times due to the needs of the business.

In order to verify sewing skill level, all candidates must pass a pre-hire sewing test as part of the interview process. 

Qualifications

Essential:

  • 3-5 years of Industrial Sewing experience, including experience with single and double stitch needles
  • 1-2 years progressive leadership experience
  • Experience sewing thick materials such as vinyl, denim, or leather
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to understand instructional materials and work related documents
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs. when needed
  • Able to work in a non-climate controlled environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability leading a team to achieve common goals 

Preferred:

  • Experience with Consew sewing machine
  • Experience in manufacturing or marine manufacturing
