Job Description

Watershed Innovation's Osmosis division provides mobile/web-based applications and data analytics to various branches of Correct Craft and beyond.  Our mission is to provide an unparalleled user experience to our customers and give clients impactful data to help improve their products in the marine industry.  The Software Engineering Intern is directly responsible for working with the software team to support the development of IoT software used in the marine industry. Primarily, the position will be responsible for provisioning IoT devices and developing edge software to advance our telematics data collection capabilities.  The applications support a telematics-based fleet management and delivery system used by dealers and owners to monitor their vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provision IoT devices for production and development use (25% of the time)
    • Maintain high level quality standards
    • Troubleshoot device connectivity
    • Responsible for maintaining appropriate device inventory levels
    • Ensure database has correct device information
  • Update and develop software that operates on the IoT device (75% of the time)
    • Assist in fixing bugs in current applications
    • Develop advanced Edge applications for the device
    • Maintain codebase in Azure Devops according to best practices
  • Review code as a part of source control, code reviews, and security checks
  • Communicate effectively with peers and key non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications

Essential:

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field
  • Proficient with Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with Node.js and Bash, Bourne or AWK scripting languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • A continuous learner with a passion for innovation
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, take initiative, and adapt to changing requirements

Preferred:

  • Experience using Microsoft Azure DEVOPS
  • Experience with CAN Protocols, J1939, and NMEA 2000 standards
  • Passion for boating and watersports

 

Additional Information

The position is an onsite role for about 20-30 hours per week at the Watershed Innovation headquarters in Orlando, FL. We are looking for candidates from Central FL colleges only. There is no remote work available for this position.
