Job Description

The Director of Human Resources will oversee all HR initiatives, systems and strategies ensuring that the Company’s HR programs are legally compliant, effective, efficient and aligned to our company culture and strategic business objectives. This professional will be based at the corporate headquarters and report to the Vice President of Administration while leading a centralized HR Team providing HR services to multiple entities in the central Florida area.

The ideal candidate for this role should be professional, results-oriented, possess excellent writing skills, knowledge of employment law and human resource practices, business acumen, strong organizational skills, and excel in team-building.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Collaborates with Company Presidents and senior leadership to understand the company’s strategic goals and staffing requirements.
  • Serves as a Culture Ambassador promoting and reinforcing the Company’s core values of people, performance and philanthropy.
  • Leads a team of Human Resource professionals in prioritizing tasks, setting expectations, and delivering quality service to employees, while creating a positive work environment founded on respect and accountability.
  • Fosters good relationships with production managers and supervisors to promote cooperation and employee engagement. 
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes and workflows based on industry best practices. 
  • Effectively communicates and disseminates HR messages and Company information across multiple platforms.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Supports Company reporting requirements and conducts research and analysis of organizational trends delivering accurate and relevant metrics on the Company’s workforce. 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and new technologies in human resources. Monitors employment legislation; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance; and advises management on any actions needed for compliance with upcoming regulatory changes.  
  • Develops and maintains the departmental budget.  
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for the human resource team.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent writing skills for the creation of workplace policies, employee communications, and HR initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of HR practices and employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to juggle and manage competing tasks and demands and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. 
  • Exhibits attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and take the initiative to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and make decisions/choices within the functional area of responsibility with minimal direct supervision.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms for payroll, benefits and recruiting. Knowledge or experience with ADP Workforce Now and Smart Recruiter are a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of HR management experience is required.
  • HRCI/SHRM certification preferred.
