Our Electrical Systems Engineer will contribute to the development, testing, and production release of Electric Propulsion Systems for recreational marine products.  This role will involve engineering the componentry, topology, and connections of DC and AC systems, as well as designing and programming associated electronic control systems.  The ideal candidate will also be able to assist the software team in developing, testing, and implementing software improvements and updates.  You will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate specifications for production propulsion systems in compliance with ABYC, USCG, and CE requirements. You will also be involved in engineering the typical boat 12v DC systems and coding digital switching and display screens for control of devices.  

We are looking for a creative, detail oriented individual that can join a small team of talented experts. This is a Mon - Fri position, typically 8am - 5pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         High Voltage Electrical System Layout and Design

·         Create electrical harness drawings and documentation using CAD software

·         Develop new products and functionality in the areas of electric propulsion, control systems, communication and sensors

·         Test and validate prototype electrical components to ensure function and reliability

·         Ensure compatibility and communication between all integrated electrical systems

·         Source, evaluate and integrate new parts and components for marine electrical systems, including HV AC/DC chargers

 

Qualifications

     Essential

·         B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field

·         Understanding of the fundamentals of Engineering and Design Process

·         Experience with AC/DC – DC/DC and DC/AC inverters, high voltage DC and AC applications

·         Electric vehicle experience

·         Knowledge of battery cell chemistry and physical characteristics, experience with battery management systems

·         Experience with universal controllers and controller programming and understanding of a vehicle’s CAN network

·         Knowledge of NFPA and NEC standards related to electrical hazards and safety

·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents

·         Innovative mindset, which generates growing, scalable, data-driven solutions and culture

      Preferred

·         Understanding of marine systems and components

·         Ability to code using C in a development environment

·         Ability to integrate different electrical systems and interfaces to ensure a boat’s functionality and performance

·         Marine Industry - Engineering/Manufacturing

·         AC grid knowledge 

·         Knowledge and interest about innovations in automotive and manufacturing industries

·         Experience with mobile development platforms such as iOS and Android

·         AutoCAD and/or Solidworks experience
