Job Description

Job Description: The Safety Department Intern will work with the Safety team to complete Job Hazard Analysis. (JHA)   This is a technique that focuses on job tasks as a way to identify hazards before they occur. The position will focus on the relationship between the worker, the task, the tools and the work environment at our manufacturing facility. This position is for local college students only.  We offer $13/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Break a job down into the various tasks it involves
  • Identify hazards associated with each task and assist in putting controls in place
  • Keep clear documentation
  • Will prioritize jobs for completion
  • Will work on the plant floor
  • Perform daily documentation

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Postsecondary degree in Occupational Safety,  Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and cannot be graduating prior to Dec 2019 at a Central Florida College Only. There is no relocation process for this position.
  • Prefer students that have a focus in Industrial Hygiene and/or Safety.
  • Must be available for 20 hours per week Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:30AM to 4:00 PM for 2 semesters
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality Control, and attention to detail
  • Must be able to wear PPE, including eye and hearing protection
  • Strong problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Must be energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • Must be a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, decisive, good judgment and strong operational focus.
  • Must be a well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel 
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills required
  • An individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • A self-motivated individual who excels in a challenging environment
