Job Description

Job Description: The Composites Product Engineer is directly responsible for ensuring the structural validity of all composite components. This includes both structural and cosmetic fiberglass components and all subsequent testing. We offer an exciting environment of forward-thinking team members who love the boating industry and are passionate about what they do. We offer an 8-5, Mon – Fri schedule,  with compensation ranging from 60k-75k, DOE.

Duties:

  • Define and design component specifications for composite structures from design through manufacturing completion
  • Generate Engineering models, drawings and Bills of Material for new designs.
  • Approve mechanical models and drawings for release
  • Generate Engineering change notices as required
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of new product, programs and strategies
  • Ensure and acquire component and system compliance with industry standards
  • Review and approve owner’s manuals for accurate and complete mechanical descriptions and information
  • Evaluate and test new composite structures for ISO and CE compliance based upon industry equations for marine structural loading
  • Will assist with technical aspects of all product recall campaigns
  • Coordinate with vendors on new products and materials
  • Assist production with integration of new model laminate structures and material updated to existing models
  • Yearly testing of all new chemical and structural components, to include UV, patch ability and flexural
  • Generate all new laminate and core pattern files for the Zund fiberglass cutter and AXYZ router table
  • Corporate representative in product liability litigation

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related Technical Field
  • One or more  years 3D CAD Modeling experience, preferably SolidWorks and Rhino
  • At least one year experience in composites and composite structure design
  • Must be a creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image
  • Must be a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, decisive, good judgment and strong operational focus.
  • Must be a well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • A “Coach” who will share information as a mentor with the team
  • At least one year experience reading, analyzing and interpreting complex technical documents
  • Must have a quick response time to sensitive inquiries and concerns
  • Two or more years’ experience in presenting in small and large groups
