Job Description

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Technician’s Assistant to support Warranty/Field Service Technicians in delivering exceptional customer service during in-field service appointments for window and door products.

This role is a hands-on support position focused on assisting technicians with physical tasks, logistics, and customer interaction. The Technician’s Assistant will help ensure service calls are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of customer satisfaction.

This position does not perform technical repairs independently but plays a key role in improving productivity, reducing reliance on third-party contractors, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

  • Assist Service Technicians during in-field service visits.
  • Support handling and positioning of door slabs, windows, and other materials (excluding glass handling).
  • Act as a “second set of hands” for repairs and replacements (holding, stabilizing, moving product).
  • Load and unload materials, parts, and tools from service vehicles.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the service vehicle and job site.
  • Assist with basic preparation and cleanup before and after service work.
  • Help ensure all required tools, parts, and materials are available for each service call.
  • Provide courteous and professional interaction with homeowners, contractors, and dealers.
  • Support safe work practices at all times, including use of PPE and proper lifting techniques.
  • Follow direction from the Service Technician to ensure efficient completion of service calls.
  • Assist with documenting basic job details if required.
  • Support warehouse activities when field service demand is lower, including moving packages, staging materials, and assisting with general warehouse tasks.

Qualifications

  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently
  • Physically capable of working in various weather conditions
  • Ability to perform manual tasks including lifting, carrying, and assisting on ladders (as required)
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable
  • Previous construction, labour, or service-related experience is considered an asset but not required
