Base pay rate starts at $26.00 per hour
Shift: Day Shift, Full time
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Driver will be expected to transport metal roofing panels, metal trims, boxed goods, crated metal panels, and coil to our customers, distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor-trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service. The Ideal candidate will provide customer responsiveness and efficient material handling and delivery activities. This position is an over the road driving position 2-3 nights a week.
- Must demonstrate commercial driving and skills in maneuvering the truck and trailer at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in a tight loading dock area.
- Assist in the unloading of products and/ or loading return products at customer locations and job sites.
- Safely assist in the unloading of the product using a Moffett forklift to customer’s location and/ or return products.
- Deliver material in a "route truck/multi-drop" fashion to destinations in a safe and timely manner.
- Our drivers are responsible for securing all loads on the trailers and checking that load multiple times during the route.
- Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. If unable to answer specific questions, direct customer to appropriate contact
- Preform pre & post trip inspections thoroughly.
- All material delivered must be verified by the driver while being offloaded electronically or manually.
- Proof of delivery must be obtained.
- Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle & equipment.
- Immediately report any repair or maintenance needed.
- May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL License
- Valid Medical Card
- Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical
- 2 years of previous tractor-trailer flatbed driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
- Clean driving record
- Hands on delivery experience
- Multi-drop delivery experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Plan and manage time efficiently.
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must be able to work independently
- Ability to work effectively with people in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable
- Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work
- Ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods of time
- Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
