Job Description
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, this detail-oriented, self-starting individual is responsible for performing random quality audits on a variety of production lines, entering /reporting/communicating defect data daily, and maintaining records and files within the Quality Department. Other responsibilities include training on the shop floor, investigating root causes of recurring defects, generating reports, and supporting the Manufacturing and Quality Department where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect product throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform failure investigations and root cause analysis.
- Perform process and product audits.
- Record quality data based on audit results to support production in identifying and correcting non-conformance trends.
- Perform product testing in a controlled environment, including on-site water testing and corner strength testing for weld quality.
- Perform quality inspection and performance on incoming shipments from various suppliers.
- Provide exceptional customer service through fact-based decision making, supporting production initiatives, and working with service on remediation in the field.
- Train shop floor employees on proper assembly, calibrating equipment & coordinating maintenance.
- Participate in quality standards review, creating work instructions and job breakdown sheets.
Qualifications
- Non-Unionized hourly position.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including occasional Saturday shifts as required.
- Physically fit (some heavy lifting).
Education & Skills
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
- Committed to quality products and processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer and data entry skills.
- Familiar and able to use problem-solving tools such as Fishbone diagrams and 5-why analysis.
- Certification in Six Sigma is an asset.
