Quality Assurance Lead 1st Shift
Base Pay: $31.50 - $36.50 per hour
1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the daily work assignments of assigned Extrusion Techs. Assigns tasks, monitors the completion of the tasks and reports task completion to QA Supervisor. Completes and distributes the Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Year End quality percentages. Designs and implements training for QA Techs and for company employees outside of the quality department.
- Reviews work schedules for all QA Techs.
- Addresses all safety issues noted during prior shift or previous day.
- Ensures employee attendance at daily and weekly safety and quality meetings.
- Checks previous days Tie-Ins from each QA Tech.
- Addresses any problems with product from prior shift.
- Provides directions to QA Techs.
- Directs and provides on-going training to QA Techs.
- Conducts safety and quality training.
- Completes all required paperwork.
- Monitors status of manufacturing orders/lines.
- Assists managers in executing any task requested.
- Continuously performs quality control tasks: visually inspects windows and doors for imperfections, ensures that rejected material is quarantined until reclaimed or disposed
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of the window process.
- Extensive knowledge of windows machinery, ability to detect problems.
- Ability to report and explain machine problems to the appropriate person or suggest solution.
- Complete knowledge of how to adjust, assemble, dissemble, and otherwise calibrate QA tools.
- Ability to routinely and accurately record and report measurement and quality control data as required.
- Ability to utilize computer database.
- The ability to prioritize work tasks according to production requirements.
- Ability to train other employees in windows quality procedures.
Language:
- Ability to read, write and speak simple English as appropriate to a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to read production paperwork, safety warning labels and signs; must be able to verbally communicate with coworkers, other leads and supervisors regarding the production process and safety related information.
Mathematics:
- Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th inch and use a chart to convert it to a decimal.
- Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations.
Reasoning:
- Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, physically demonstrated or diagrammed form.
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Experience and Education
AA degree in a related field and 3 years experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Tools, Equipment and PPE Used
Personal computer, calipers, snap gauge, thermometer, stop watch, glass tester, weld tester, tape measure, calculator, photocopier, fax machine, snips and power saws.
Safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed shoes, wrist guards, and hearing protection as required.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, glass hazards, fumes (glycerin vapor), airborne particles (vinyl dust), and moderate to high noise levels. Some lifting required, up to 75 pounds.
Work Schedule
Scheduling varies depending upon production needs.
Overtime/weekend work may be required.
