JOB DETAILS

This is an on-site role in Rocky Mount, VA for Summer 2025.

The Quality Engineer Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for assisting in improving the quality systems used throughout the operation to ensure critical specifications are being met (i.e. those required for maintaining certification and meeting the design intent). This is accomplished by maintaining all Product Quality Standards in readily available forms capable of being communicated, understood and met during the fenestration production processes. Further, the Quality Engineer Intern is responsible for assisting in maintaining gauging systems designed to meet the stated product and process requirements. The Quality Engineer Intern assists in RCA for the plant Voice of the Customer process by which customer product feedback is effectively captured and communicated to the appropriate Operations leaders, so these product issues may be clearly understood by those involved in the product’s manufacture as well as by the Operations Leaders tasked with improving their line’s performance.  Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this role is assisting quality and production for any need that arises.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Possible projects and initiatives this intern will work on include: Error Mistake Proofing, Kaizen events, PFMEA, PDCA, CTO projects, NIST verification, SPC reviews, etc.
  • Partner with Quality Engineer to improve processes and tracking

Qualifications

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering field required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, CAD, SPC, and Quality Methodologies is preferred
  • Common measuring devices include calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, gauges, digital camera, video camera and computer experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Minitab and business operating systems (i.e. AS 400, J.D. Edwards) is preferred
