Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused individual with a strong passion for workplace investigations, providing expert coaching and practical guidance that fosters a positive working environment to join our Employee Relations Team

As an Employee Relations Advisor, you will be a key member of the Employee Relations Centers of Excellence (COE) team reporting to the Senior Manager, Employee Relations. In this role, you will provide expertise and practical guidance to internal business-facing HR partners and leaders on a breadth of employee relations issues in compliance with company policy, and local, state and federal employment laws. As a point of escalation, you will adeptly conduct sensitive and highly complex and/or high-tier workplace investigations with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As the subject matter expert, provide expert guidance, education and recommendations to HR team members and business leaders on broad and complex work-related issues, and policy and procedure interpretation timely and in compliance with local, state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Proactively research employee relations/compliance efforts and provide practical consultation to avoid timeline exposure to the organization across a broad range of HR and employment-related matters such as time and attendance, absence management, hiring and separation, job description management, performance management, diversity, discrimination, harassment, compensation, privacy, record keeping, and general employee relation needs
  • Conduct prompt, fair, impartial, thorough investigations on high-tier, complex, and sensitive employee relations issues concerning allegations such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, hostile work environment, and code of conduct and/or employee handbook policy violations
    • Conduct investigatory interviews, and collect, analyze and translate relevant evidence
    • Complete investigation reports to include clear, precise, and objective findings, and deliver fact-based recommendations and debriefs with relevant stakeholders
    • Thoroughly document investigative efforts internally, using case management system (Navex) as required
    • Formally respond to sensitive concerns and allegations, both internally and/or to external agencies
  • Review investigations and applicable documentation and performance management documentation completed by business-facing HR, and provide appropriate education, recommendations, and guidance to reduce risk.
  • Foster effective collaboration with HR teams, legal counsel, and business leaders
  • Support internal HR Case Management ticket system and HR Compliance Inbox providing initial support and guidance in a consultative and timely manner
  • Conduct thorough review and analyses of various employee relations issues to identify trends and provide recommended solutions
  • Participate in the development of reactive and proactive training, initiatives, policies and projects across the company
  • Support continuous improvement in reviewing existing policies, practices, and processes and recommend changes with a mindset for enhancing the employee experience and while ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws
  • Keep abreast of local, state, and federal employment and compliance laws
  • While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus
  • Participate in Total Rewards & HR Operations projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Business Administration, Human Resources, Labor Relations or related field, or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources, with 2 years’ experience in non-union Employee Relations Centers of Excellence (COE)
  • Must have experience in Employee Relations working with large hourly employee populations, Manufacturing or Production industry is highly desired
  • Proven experience handling complex workplace complaints and conflict resolution; experience providing guidance on performance management, company policies, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Customer focused and tactful with a demonstrated capability to collaborate and cultivate effective relationships throughout all levels of the organization
  • General knowledge of employee relations issues and employment laws (e.g., Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, National Labor Relations Act, etc.)
  • Skilled in managing sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and empathy
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, interpret, and report on data with a neutral perspective, from varied sources
  • Ability to use independent judgment, critical thinking, and creativity in solving complex problems
  • Ability to remain respectful and empathetic when confronted with difficult and uncomfortable situations
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while accomplishing high-volume individual tasks

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 + 5% Annual Bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
