Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an on-site position based in Paris, IL.
The Engineering Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands are exposed high potential individuals to manufacturing systems and processes and will take place in various US locations. Interns will be working alongside Cornerstone employees on projects that will have a direct impact on the business. Cornerstone Building Brands is committed to the professional development of students selected in the program. Interns will be assigned to teams working on specific projects based on experience, academic background, and professional goals/interests.
Interns will work in office and shop floor environments with extended periods of sitting and standing. Must be able to communicate and engage with employees on the shop floor. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Reporting directly to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager, this role will work onsite at the Paris, IL apertures.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Manufacturing Engineering: Process flow, production parts picking/delivery/presentation, process mapping, time studies, and layouts.
Product Design Engineering: Mechanical design review of incoming extrusions for Design For Manufacturability, tolerance stack/compliance, and repeatability.
- Learn safety policies and procedures
- Monitor and maintain shop drawing and shop drawing coordination
- Practice project dimensional control requirements while field verifying dimensions to administer the shop drawing approval process
- Prepare/support equipment moves with documentation
- Generate periodic project updates
- Assist with Time Study/Line Balancing for efficient Lean Process Flow
- Participate in updating project schedule
- Prepare and present a summary of experiences and lessons learned to Management staff at conclusion of internship
- Perform additional assignments per Manager’s direction
Qualifications
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering required
- Must have completed Sophomore year coursework
- Experience with AutoCad, Inventor, or Solid works preferred
- Data Interpretation/manipulation via MS Excel preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
