ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days/week in the Cary, NC office for Summer 2025.
The Corporate Communications Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands will play a key role in supporting external and internal communications and community engagement efforts aimed at strengthening Cornerstone Building Brands’ positive reputation and positioning the company as the Premier exterior building solutions company. Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, External Communications, this role is part of the Corporate Communications Team within Corporate Marketing and offers opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience contributing to and executing internal and external communications plans that align with the company’s messaging, purpose and values. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to learn.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Partner with members of the communications team, agency partners and those in other business functions to execute internal and external communications tactics that advance our strategy
- Draft and edit organizational announcements, internal communications, press releases, social media posts, media statements and other external communications materials
- Identify, analyze, recommend and implement media trends and coverage, social media content development and execution strategies and messaging that resonates with our audiences
- Partner with internal communications and HR to execute brand reputation management tactics that support our talent acquisition goals
- Establish and maintain media reporting for communications campaigns through our media monitoring tool (Meltwater)
- Assist in the planning and execution of community outreach activities/events
- Provide general support to the team, including file and meeting record management
Qualifications
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Pursuing or recent graduate with a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or a related field is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop clear and compelling messages for various audiences is required
- Attention to detail with high standard of quality is required
- Ability to think critically, work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously is required
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram); additional experience using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint is preferred
