Job Description

CECO Building Systems, a company in the Cornerstone Building Brands family, is seeking a Safety Manager to join our team at our Mount Pleasant, IA location.

 

Purpose:

The Safety Manager is expected to be the subject-matter-expert on all local and federal Industrial and Health Safety regulations and to drive continuous improvement regarding the safety and culture of the plant.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent - College Degree preferred
  • With HS Diploma or Equiv., 5+ years of safety management experience required, with college degree, 3+ yrs experience required
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards and Regulations
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, not required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

 

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to our behavioral based safety program. Together with the facility leadership and corporate safety teams, formulates general safety politics and procedures to be followed by company and plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Administer and sustain the facility safety program for optimal workplace organization and safety.
  • Communicate regularly with facility leadership team, operational teams, and other continuous improvement leaders.
  • Inspect designated manufacturing operations to identify existing or protentional accident, health and environmental concerns and initiates corrective or preventative measures where needed.
  • Participates in the investigation of safety incidents and quality and service issues.
  • Provide training and coaching to all operations team members on the practice of the Lean principle of waste identification and reduction and safe work behaviors as defined by corporate Safety and CI leadership.
  • Coordinate the completion of Safety audits and maintain their respective logs.
  • Maintain Safety training materials and records.
  • Maintains/updates SDS sheets
  • Constantly seeks, shares, and implements best practices
