Job Description

Core BTS seeks a Network Engineer to maintain the daily operations of the computer network and perform technical duties relating to the installation, configuration and management of network operating system software and communications hardware.

Position Summary:

  • Designs, implements, and maintains local and wide area networks that typically link to numerous computer platforms and network topologies across a widely dispersed geographical area.
  • Acts as a consultant to business units on networking requirements.
  • Interfaces with business users to obtain requirements.
  • Qualifies solutions for the network environment.
  • Manages the most complex technology implementations.
  • Research and apply new technologies to reduce costs and improve productivity and network reliability for network data transmission products and services.
  • Develops new designs and documentation to improve current network operating procedures.

This position is a Full-Time W2 Contract assignment.  Typical work consists of 40 Hours Per Week; Up to 16 Weeks of project work through March, 2022.

This position is NOT remote.  You will be required to report to the worksite in Cortland County, NY.

Qualifications

Education:

  • B.S degree in Computer Science or related field is required

 

Experience:

  • Three years' experience in the networking field preferred but can be substituted for five years in a related Information Technology role.

 

Primary Duties Include:

  • Maintains local and remote network infrastructure so that it provides reliable and secure access to computer resources with reasonable response time.
  • Works closely with network vendor's technical support personnel to resolve network problems.
  • Acts as an in-house consultant for all aspects of network related concepts and technologies.
  • Creates and maintains complete documentation of logical and physical network diagrams, and configuration of network devices.
  • Installs, configures, and tests network infrastructure devices in local and remote locations. Such devices include routers, bridges, switches, hubs, and modems.
  • Maintains log of network problems and solutions.
  • Organizes network equipment and cabling in wiring closets and Data Center. Maintains a clean, organized, clutter free area.
  • Participates in needs assessment, requirement definition, and vendor selection for network equipment.
  • Performs troubleshooting and problem solving for LAN/WAN related problems.
  • Provides leadership for planning, ordering, scheduling, and coordinating of systems projects as they pertain to network infrastructure.
