Jealous Fruits is the northernmost large scale cherry producer in North America. We grow premium cherries along the shores of Okanagan Lake in the renowned Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Our cherries are all hand packed in our state-of-the-art facility, located right on our farm, and shipped to our customers worldwide.
Job Description
The Packing Floor Manager will oversee a large team devoted to correctly packing orders on the processing line. They manage scale settings, cleanliness, traceability controls, inventory, order management and staff training and development.
· Supervision of personnel and equipment in the packing department.
· Teaching workers best practice techniques and maintaining awareness of quality.
· Coordinating packaging during order & lot changes on the processing line.
· Ensuring any quality or maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
· Maintain a clean work environment.
· Maintain orders and correct packing to customer specific requests.
· Record daily staff hours and issue to payroll at end of shift.
Qualifications
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent education.
· Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role (in a similar environment would be desirable).
· Good eye for detail and quality maintenance.
· Knowledge of fresh fruit processing an asset.
· Must be in good general health and able to stand for extended periods of time.
· Must be a flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environment with staff from all over the world.
· Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
· Previous use of, or willingness to learn the Unitec Traceability software
Additional Information
Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season. Applicants should be aware that:
· Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather.
· Work hours are generally at least 60 hours per week and can be longer.
· As this is agricultural employment, overtime provisions do not apply for these positions.
· Environment is cold, workers must dress warmly in layered clothing.
· Be always aware of working area, as machinery and pallet jacks will be in operation around you.
· The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.
· Must be available from late June to early September.
