Full-Stack Software Engineer
- New York, NY, USA
Coord is an Alphabet-backed startup helping cities manage their curb space. Cities often don't even have a digital record of how they have allocated the curb lane -- where drivers can park, when restrictions are in place, or even where bus stops and fire hydrants are located. Many manage their curb much the same way they did decades ago - using signs and paint. But now, cities are beginning to realize how important this space can be, and are starting to use new tools to help them unlock its potential.
We're building the digital infrastructure that enables cities to inventory, allocate, price, and operate their curbs. This way, they can make it easier for people and goods to get where they're going while making streets safer and more equitable, by reducing double parking and congestion, prioritizing transit and active mobility, and making it easy for delivery drivers to load and unload their vehicles quickly and safely.
Coord is looking for an engineer who is passionate about cities and can help us deliver great products from end to end. Our current technology stack includes React and React Native web and mobile applications, together with Go servers running on Google Cloud Platform. At Coord, our engineers:
Develop new product concepts and features from requirements to launch
Work on all aspects of our technology, from mobile apps to databases;
Dive deep into geospatial data to improve our customers' understanding of their curb space;
Learn from our customers to build products that are easy and fun to use while solving real-world transportation problems.
We are looking for candidates who:
Work with modern web and mobile technologies, including cloud computing platforms, relational databases, RESTful servers, and IOS/Android app development.
Are top-notch programmers with the ability to deliver high-quality code quickly.
Have a track record of producing software that delights users.
Can rapidly prototype new concepts.
Are comfortable with ambiguity and learning as you go.
Navigate around obstacles and adjust requirements to deliver products quickly.
Make others successful and develop software collaboratively.
Communicate with non-technologists to define products.
Listen intently, ask hard questions, and challenge assumptions to ensure that you’re solving the right problems.
Are passionate about transportation and cities.
Are currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
It’s not required that any single candidate would have expertise across all of these areas—we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.
This role is currently remote, but we expect to move back to an office in Manhattan when it is safe to do so. If you are not based in New York, you should be willing and able to relocate at this point. In the meantime, we will expect you to work US East Coast hours.
