UX Designer

Company Description

Coord is an Alphabet-backed startup helping cities manage their curb space. Cities often don't even have a digital record of how they have allocated the curb lane -- where drivers can park, when restrictions are in place, or even where bus stops and fire hydrants are located.  Many manage their curb much the same way they did decades ago - using signs and paint.  But now, cities are beginning to realize how important this space can be, and are starting to use new tools to help them unlock its potential.

We're building the digital infrastructure that enables cities to inventory, allocate, price, and operate their curbs. This way, they can make it easier for people and goods to get where they're going while making streets safer and more equitable, by reducing double parking and congestion, prioritizing transit and active mobility, and making it easy for delivery drivers to load and unload their vehicles quickly and safely.

Job Description

As Coord’s UX designer, you will work closely with the engineering and business teams to craft Coord's products and help us share our message with the world, using both graphic design skills and web and mobile interaction design. The ideal candidate must be able to take direction well, be team oriented, able to take the initiative and must have a strong design portfolio, reflecting solid web and mobile design experience and production skills.

Workload may vary, but we target 10 hours per week. We fully expect you to have other clients but ideally no full-time job.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop new graphics and pages for Coord's marketing website, coord.com

  • Aid in the production of marketing materials including slides, digital ads, and our website and blog.

  • Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups and prototypes for our web and mobile applications.

  • Work with the engineering team to ensure designs are implemented well and evolve to meet the changing needs of our clients.

  • Act as a user advocate to ensure that our products are easy to use and understand

  • 3+ years experience with web and mobile design -- you have worked on the design of at least one mobile app that has shipped in production.

  • Knowledge of user experience standards for Android and iOS.

  • Experience with responsive Web design.

  • Experience designing products and features - from user stories to flows to wireframes to final visual design, being able to explain your thought process and solutions.

  • A track record of working collaboratively with a development team, iterating on designs, and adapting to evolving requirements.

  • Experience with Sketch and Illustrator; ability to design logos and graphics.

  • Experience with cartography and geospatial tools (e.g. Mapbox, ArcGIS/QGIS) a plus.

  • The ability to solve design problems creatively, considering the product broadly rather than working screen by screen

  • You appreciate critical feedback - give it, receive it, and seek it.
