Job Description

The candidate must be certified by Lenel. This position shall serve as the Access Control/Alarm systems assistant administrator (AESSA) for DISA Fort Meade. The candidate shall provide a highly trained security specialist with a demonstrated commensurate specialized experience in electronic security systems administration. Candidates must have a minimum of three-year experience in the following: 

  • Security integration hardware and software installation
  • Troubleshooting, configuration, administration of Internet Protocol (IP) based electronic security systems, including access control, video systems, intrusion detection, and other network peripherals
  • Knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software
  • General functional responsibilities of device configuration, programming, installation and maintenance of IP based electronic security systems, including cable, access control card readers and data gathering panels
  • Video management software and network video recording platforms, connected desktop computers and servers, network interface cards, and other network peripherals as well as design and initial implementation
  • Windows-Based Operating Systems

This position shall be responsible for updating software to meet Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) compliance, if required. This position requires certification on the operating system of the Access Control/Alarm System (Lenel OnGuard) at the start of employment.

Additional Tasks Include

  • Assist ESSA with basic function responsibilities to include device configuration, installation and maintenance of IP based electronic security systems, including cable, access-control card-readers and data gathering panels, video management software and network video recording platforms, connected desktop computers, network interface cards, and other network peripherals as well as design and initial implementation. Oversees and certifies all work done on the system and oversees and certifies all additional equipment and capabilities installed on the system, per the established guidance of the COR.  Actively participates in the planning, testing, documentation, coordination, installation, maintenance, and operation of all elements comprising the ESS and components.
  • Assist ESSA to operate, inspect, diagnose, and performs minor repair for all parts of the system, system problems, and the capable of assisting the administrator to take immediate action to resolve malfunctions. Requires detailed knowledge of all hardware and software operating systems, to include maintenance of all systems, linked sensors, system configurations from front-end to end users. The ESSA provides oversight for all work and BPA support staff assigned to the BPA. The ESSA will submit a Daily Activity Report (DAR) each workday.
  • Assists the ESSA to oversee and certify all new or maintenance work done on the system and assists in certifying the functionality of all equipment and capabilities installed on the system. Actively participates in the planning, testing, documentation, coordination, installation, maintenance, and operation of all elements comprising the ESS including but not limited to alarms, intrusion detection, alarm annunciation/command and control subsystem, seniors, and closed circuit television cameras (interior and exterior), parking lot call boxes, and personal computers, client servers, LANs, and standard software products.

Qualifications

Vocational or specialized training beyond high school in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology (VAR certifications acceptable)

  • 3+ years’ work experience in electronics
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of intrusion detection systems, electronic access control, CCTV, IP video, surveillance systems and life safety systems
  • Working knowledge of any or all of the following products; Lenel, C*Cure, AMAG, Hirsch, DMP, Bosch, ExactVision, Pelco, ONSSI, Milestone is a plus.
  • Ability to be State certification for security service/installation required
  • Experience in commercial or government electronic security maintenance, service, or installation preferred
  • Shift adaptability is a plus
  • Willingness to work in exposure to elements
  • Knowledge and awareness of personal safety
  • Able to stand most of the day, occasionally life heavy loads, and work long hours
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills as well as the use of tact and ordinary courtesy is a must
  • Ability to be a team player

Education: High School Diploma 

Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI
