Job Description
The Purchasing Data Model Manager owns and steers the global purchasing data landscape, ensuring a reliable, scalable, and future-oriented data foundation for the purchasing organization. In this role, you will collaborate closely with procurement, IT, finance, supply chain, sustainability, and business stakeholders to establish data governance standards, advance data architecture, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
We are looking for a data management expert who combines strong technical expertise with strategic thinking. You will drive the evolution of the Purchasing Data Model, ensure a single source of truth, and support major digitalization initiatives across a complex SAP-based purchasing ecosystem.
In this role, you will help shape the future of SMART Purchasing by creating the data foundation that powers business intelligence, automation, analytics, forecasting, and innovative purchasing solutions on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Landscape Ownership: Own and manage the global purchasing data landscape, ensuring accurate integration, consistency, and maintenance across systems.
- Data Architecture: Develop and steer the global purchasing data architecture to enable efficient data management, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities.
- Logical Data Model Ownership: Own and continuously improve the Purchasing Logical Data Model, ensuring alignment with business requirements and digital transformation initiatives.
- Single Point of Data Truth: Drive the realization and maintenance of a single source of truth for purchasing data across the organization.
- Data Integration: Oversee the integration of data from multiple systems and sources into the purchasing data landscape and business warehouse environments.
- Data Governance: Define, implement, and enforce data governance standards, policies, and best practices to ensure high data quality and compliance.
- Data Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits, identify data discrepancies, and implement sustainable solutions to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Digitalization Projects: Integrate and support major purchasing digitalization initiatives, including SAP R/3 and SAP S/4HANA-based purchasing infrastructures.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with procurement, IT, finance, supply chain, sustainability, manufacturing, and business area teams to drive data initiatives and business value.
- System Optimization: Collaborate with IT and procurement teams to improve data management systems, usability, and overall effectiveness.
- Data Literacy: Promote and enhance data literacy across the purchasing organization through training, coaching, and best-practice sharing.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, and legal requirements related to data management and governance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in data management, data governance, data architecture, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Experience with enterprise data management and governance platforms such as SAP BW, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), AWS, Azure, Oracle Data Warehouse, or similar technologies.
- Data Management Expertise: Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, data governance frameworks, and data quality management.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns and relationships, and translate insights into actionable business decisions.
- Problem Solving: Proven capability to identify, assess, and resolve data-related challenges through structured and solution-oriented thinking.
- Project Management: Experience leading projects; knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies is beneficial.
- Process Optimization: Ability to embed data-driven improvements into business processes and create measurable value for the organization.
- Strategic Thinking: Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to align data initiatives with long-term organizational objectives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global stakeholder groups.
- Collaboration: Ability to work independently while building strong partnerships across diverse, international teams.
