Job Description
GENERAL MANAGMENT AND STRATEGY
▪ Manage and coordinate the Manufacturing Engineering and Facility Management functions of the plant.
▪ Translate the plant's Manufacturing Engineering and Facility Management strategy into action plans and ensure their implementation.
▪ Contribute to the plant's strategic and operational planning (e.g., with respect to investments, capacity, and headcount planning).
▪ Ensure the achievement of Manufacturing Engineering and Facility Management targets in accordance with internal and external customer expectations.
▪ Initiate and oversee investments in production equipment (e.g., production machinery, assembly equipment, automation technology, etc.), Manufacturing Engineering equipment (e.g., software tools and equipment for machine installation and maintenance), buildings, and facility equipment (e.g., energy supply systems, steam generation, emission treatment systems, etc.).
▪ Initiate and implement continuous improvement activities through the application of CBS methods and training programs.
▪ Interface with BA and sector functions to gather local Manufacturing Engineering and Facility Management requirements (e.g., ESH and ergonomics), business needs, and other feedback.
▪ Participate in and/or lead global or local Manufacturing Engineering and Facility Management-related and cross-functional projects.
▪ Conduct employee discussions, support personnel development, and provide coaching.
FINANCIAL MANAGMENT
▪ Prepare, review and manage the budget and forecast of manufacturing engineering and facility management cost centers
▪ Ensure timely submission of financial data to controlling
▪ Implement and conduct activities according to the budget established
▪ Ensure that the financial goals are met
PRODUCTION DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGMENT
▪ design and implement overall (cross product) factory processes e.g. by definition of production concept (e.g. line vs. job shop organization), design of plant layout (e.g. factory, workplace) or factory simulation (e.g. manufacturing and logistics processes, ergonomics, etc.) according to lean principles and standards
▪ support production cost calculation and standard times calculation (e.g., by time studies) and industrializations of new product specifications
▪ Align with Product and Process Industrialization (PPI) to realize process changes and support on industrializations of new product specifications
▪ define standard machine operation sheet, work combination table and (standard work instruction), machine cycle times and capacity studies (basis for PPI to create further working and setup instructions, FMEA and creation of SAP routines, BOM)
FACILITY MANAGMENT
▪ Plan and implement investments for building, building equipment and infrastructure according to standards
▪ Ensure installation, start-up, validation, operation and improvement of all building equipment and infrastructure according to standards
▪ Plan and implement building equipment and infrastructure maintenance (mechanical, electrical) until building wall (equipment and infrastructure maintenance within buildings is to be done by manufacturing engineering maintenance staff) according to standards
▪ Perform space management, i.e. management of physical space inventory e.g. regarding total area, capacity, occupant count, occupancy rate, vacancy rate, planned density, space assignment by occupant/department, vacant seats, open plan/close office percent, etc. in cooperation with Corporate Real Estate Management (CREM)
▪ Ensure implementation of internal facility management standards (e.g. technical building equipment, KPIs, etc.)
PRODUCTION AND SOPLLY CHAIN EQUIPMENT MANAGMENT
▪ Ensure the installation, start-up, validation and handover (to production) and improvement of all production and supply chain equipment as well as tools (incl. tool management) and devices according to production control plans and standards
▪ Drive and implement production and supply chain equipment (i.e. software as e.g. PLC, MDA, MES, etc. and hardware as e.g. IPCs, control boxes, etc.; also Industry 4.0) according to standards and in in cooperation with plant supply chain
▪ Plan and implement maintenance of production and SCM equipment and production and SCM equipment IT (mechanical, electrical) as well as of building, building internal equipment and infrastructure according to standards (e.g. TPM, SAP PM Plant Maintenance Management System, )
▪Operate plant workshop (e.g., CNC turning / milling centers) and tool shop
▪Ensure plant improvement trought implementation of cost saving projects / initiatives.
MONITORING AND REPORTING

STANDARDIZATION
▪ Ensure local implementation of central manufacturing engineering and facility management standards
▪ Provide feedback and input for further development of standards regarding manufacturing engineering and production processes (e.g. production flow plan, production control plan, work instructions, standardized work chart, standardized work combination table, job instruction sheet, process parameters, materials), production equipment (e.g. machines, human machine interface, ergonomics, equipment, layout), logistics (e.g. material handling and storage technologies), quality (e.g. test methods, equipment) and facility management processes (e.g. maintenance concepts, infrastructure equipment, tools, document managment, etc.) to sector or BA functions
Qualifications
- University degree, preferably in production or engineering management, industrial engineering or related discipline
- ▪ 5 or more years of professional experience in manufacturing, preferable in two functional areas, e.g. IE, quality, operations, etc. (cross functional experience e.g. in maintenance, quality, supply chain or CBS preferred).
- Comprehensive experience in rubber and plastic production processes
Experience in the roll-out of standards and/or strategic projects - 3 or more years in a leadership position, preferably in in a technical team with functional and disciplinary responsibility for other individuals
- Experience in working with international teams on production topics and understanding of foreign cultures
▪ Proficient in English is mandatory
