Job Description

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Color Development Intern will gain hands-on experience in laboratory and production settings to optimize the current product portfolio within the Livtec Industry.  With a focus on sustainability and continuous improvement, the Color Development Intern will work to incorporate scrap and recycled materials into formulations while maintaining quality performance standards.  They will also investigate ways to optimize color matching in the production environment to reduce start up times associated to color matching. 

Responsibilities include formula preparation at lab scale, material performance testing, and potential to scale lab formulations to production trials.  They will participate in aspects of the development process and interface with other cross functional project groups, including, laboratories, engineering, and operations. 

Project Deliverables:

  • Color development of recyclate containing formulations for new product development
  • Incorporation of scrap into new or existing products
  • Further development of color reading tool to facilitate production color matching
  • Evaluate pigment type effect on burn rate of material
  • End-of-Internship Presentation to Leadership Team

Learning Objectives:

  • General knowledge of PVC films manufacturing processing and formulations
  • Teamwork and daily task management
  • Analytical instruments and production equipment
  • Development process within the R&D Organization

Main Tasks:

  • Lab sample preparation
  • Laboratory testing
  • Research and Development activities
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager

THE ENVIRONMENT

Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures and guidelines must always be adhered to.  Applicants must be able to work in a manufacturing industrial environment and be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Currently enrolled in a U.S.-accredited college, university, or technical school with a minimum 2.8 GPA.
  • Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, or Chemistry, Polymers or a related field of study.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.

Additional Details

  • This is a paid, full‑time summer internship.  Internship dates are between May 18 - August 7.
  • Relocation and housing assistance are not provided.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available now or in the future for this role.
