Job Description
The PI Material Chemist will:
In this position, the chemist will become well versed in rubber processing, manufacturing of tires and the various staff and line functions of the plant. Will assist other Senior Chemists and become familiar with chemist functions by doing factory formulations, updates, performing plant process evaluations and performing specials projects as requested.
- Creation and translation of corporate specification to plant capabilities and equipment.
- Perform evaluations of materials and compounds.
- Learn to disposition suspicious compounds and components.
- Assist in troubleshooting and solving manufacturing issues.
- Perform work in either the CVT or PLT side of the plant.
- Issue written technical report
- Develop computer skills required for specification creation and data collection.
- Audit plant conformance to technical specifications and standards.
- Become familiar with the economics of manufacturing and assist in control of green and cured waste.
- Training and learning responsibilities of the PI materials department. Learning the practices and manufacturing procedure associated to the PI materials group.
- Attend BT2 meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required by the PI Materials Manager.
- Ensure all ESH procedures, policies and legal requirements are implemented and monitored.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree

The starting annual salary for this role is $75,000 a year.
