Job Description

Our Uvalde, TX location is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Wear Testing department in the Continental Tire Proving Grounds. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, is dependable and accountable.

THE POSITION

Develop, evaluates and track all the calibration system in Uvalde Proving Grounds that deliver units of physical (mass, pressure, temperature, length, time, force, speed, voltage) and current chemical measure in Uvalde Proving Grounds. Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms. Redesign or adjust measurement capability to minimize errors. Control purchase orders needed for the calibration equipment per department and utilizing our calibration tools.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements.
  • Directs personnel in all department areas in design, manufacture evaluation, and calibration of measurement standards, instruments, and test systems to ensure selection of approved instrumentation. Advises others on methods of resolving measurement problems and exchanges information with other metrology personnel through participation within the company.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy with measurement equipment (e.g., laser measurement devices, durometers) as requested by the responsible departments’ leaders.
  • Coordinate measurement technicians for better measuring performance required for the different tests. Evaluate and communicate test results to internal and external customers ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Utilize appropriated statistical analysis with different departments’ testing, ensuring testing information is accurate and reliable, according to the MSA (Measurement System Analysis) quality books.
  • Support the local Quality Department in different tasks needed for the external and internal audits, as well as performing audits to our external testing companies as needed.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree or 4 years or more in metrology or quality field if no relevant bachelor degree
  • 2 years of professional experience of research and development within testing, evaluation, and performance
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Knowledge of the different Quality systems, ISO 17025, and TS16949.
  • Quality Consciousness Technical
  • Interpersonal/ Team Player
  • Computer and Math skills, statistical knowledge
