Job Description

Dispensing- End of Month- Daily Management :
 Familiarise yourself with in-house procedures and follow all prescribed SOP’s regarding
dispensing prescriptions.
 Ensure all details on the prescriptions are legible and correct.
 Print labels for prescriptions.
 Place the prepared prescription items safely and in order for the Pharmacist to check
 Manage the filing of the prescriptions and the filing system to ensure all current
prescriptions are available and old prescriptions filed separately in a designated area.
 Verify all prescriptions daily.
 Complete verifying, endorsing, and ensure the monthly claim is sent on time.
 Resubmit scheme rejections. Check for underpayments.
 Do back-up on the computer once weekly.
 Implement all safety standards in the dispensary at all times updating as necessary.
 Keep informed on any changes implemented by IPU etc.
 Manage orders and stock control. Ensure to edit orders before sending.
 Check off all invoices and do returns daily as required.
 Check for short dated stock.
 Follow up on credit due from suppliers.
 Put stock away in designated areas. Rotate stock. Fridge items should be attended to
immediately.
 Follow the required procedure for ordering Ostomy, Ulm H/Tech.
 All transfer/ receiving of stock between stores should be recorded.
 Check for out of dates every three months and deal with the products according to SOP.
 Keep dispensary organised and clean.
 Comply with pharmacy Health and Safety policy.
 Ensure all documents and information books are in order and easy to access.
 Keep the Pharmacist / manager informed on any issues arising in their absence. Document.

 Ensure everything is in place should there be an inspection.
 Record temperature records daily as required.
 Ensure all communication is written in the Daily Book and followed up.
 Answer the phone in a professional manner and write down all requests
Customer Service:
 Follow procedure on greeting customer (and other shop floor procedures) and accept their
prescription/ information. Adopt totalhealth Pharmacy “You are the Difference” customer
service techniques.
 Complete totalhealth Pharmacy training for Medicine Counter Assistant and Vitamins & Natural
Remedies.
 Check the details and proceed with dispensing, checking patient details at all times.
 Advise the customer how long their prescription is likely to be and explain any delays
thereafter
 Be aware your customer will not want their information spoken of in front of other
customers (Confidentiality- see SOP). Maintain highest level of confidentiality and
discretion at all times.
 Ensure the counter is manned once you re-enter the dispensary
 When returning the completed prescription, always ask if they need anything else and
advise on ‘Perfect Partner’ products with their prescriptions.
