Job Description

As the lead Data Engineer you will build up our data architecture capability and drive the strategy and its implementation, along with growing and developing the function. You will act as an advocate for data, engaging with stakeholders across the business to drive participation and support for our strategic objectives to meet the needs of the Investment Office.

Build and maintain a data strategy that enables the Investment Office to navigate their large and complex dataset at ease, creating easy to use solutions that enable them to clearly see the details and provide them with tooling to analyse and present data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver long-term strategy goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with stakeholders within the Investment Office and Constanter Philanthropic Support IT.
  • Defining and developing the data framework, standards, and principles, including modelling, metadata, security, reference data and master data.
  • Leading and defining data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition.
  • Develop and implement backend infrastructures to support data flow and storage.
  • Develop tools for data visualisations, data management and business intelligence dashboards.
  • Monitor the data quality and ensure the data is reliable and ready for use
  • Influencing stakeholders to meet their data goals and support them on their digital journey by helping to design and implement these standards.
  • You will work collaboratively with and alongside senior stakeholders, which requires the ability to challenge and probe where needed, being confident in the solutions you are recommending.
  • You drive quality improvements

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in delivering high level design for data transformation is key alongside taking an architectural approach to data solutions, a cloud approach, and possessing real time data experience to provide an accurate, live view of the business.
  • Extensive experience of delivering flexible, reliable, supportable logical and physical data models, for an enterprise that supports internal and external systems.
  • Successfully (helped) build a data architecture/foundation and experience with influencing senior stakeholders
  • A master’s degree in finance, computer science or quantitative studies.
  • A strong background and at least 5 years’ experience in data architecture, data modelling and data definition and currently working in a similar role, in a forward thinking and fast paced business
  • Proficient knowledge in Python or similar high-level programming languages
  • Hands-on experience in a cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure.
  • Exposure to modern data architectures such as data mesh/data lakes and their accompanying technologies would be advantageous but your drive to innovate and deliver solutions will also complement your technical ability.
