Job Description

Job Purpose

Ensure the preventive maintenance, repair and optimal operation of all commercial kitchen equipment, while minimising breakdowns and disruption to hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, gas and refrigeration-related faults.
  • Maintain equipment such as ovens, cooking ranges, fryers, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, dishwashers, mixers and food warmers.
  • Carry out regular inspections, cleaning, lubrication and replacement of defective parts.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring or critical issues.
  • Monitor cooking gas consumption and ensure stock availability.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and hotel operating standards.
  • Work closely with the Engineering, Culinary and Stewarding teams.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Engineering Supervisor.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Recognised technical qualification in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or Commercial Kitchen Equipment Maintenance.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, refrigeration and gas-powered systems.
  • Previous experience in a hotel, resort or commercial kitchen environment is essential; luxury hospitality experience is preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills, with the ability to work independently and respond effectively to urgent breakdowns.
  • Able to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams and equipment specifications.
  • Highly adaptable, safety-conscious and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
