Job Description

Constance Ephelia, a luxurious resort in the Seychelles, is seeking a talented and creative Sous Chef- Pastry to join our culinary team. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Pastry Chef to create exquisite desserts and pastries that delight our discerning guests.

  • Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in managing daily operations of the pastry kitchen
  • Develop and execute innovative pastry menus for various outlets within the resort
  • Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene are maintained
  • Train and supervise junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff
  • Manage inventory, control costs, and minimise waste
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet guest expectations and dietary requirements
  • Participate in menu planning and development of new pastry concepts
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pastry trends and techniques

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or diploma specialising in pastry arts
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel pastry kitchen
  • Advanced knowledge of pastry and baking techniques
  • Proficiency in creating a wide range of desserts, pastries, and baked goods
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience in managing a team
  • Creativity and attention to detail in presentation and flavour combinations
  • Knowledge of international pastry trends and techniques
  • Understanding of dietary restrictions and allergen management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Food safety certification
  • Willingness to relocate to Seychelles
