Job Description

The Pastry Commis supports the pastry team in preparing high-quality desserts and baked items. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about pastry arts and eager to grow in a professional kitchen environment.

Duties and Description:

  • Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries—such as cakes, pies, tarts, cookies, and breads—using established recipes and techniques.

  • Support the creation and attractive presentation of desserts for various dining outlets and special occasions.

  • Store and rotate ingredients and finished products correctly to ensure freshness and reduce waste.

  • Maintain a dependable presence and strong work ethic in a high-paced kitchen environment.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors, especially during busy service hours.

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and eagerness to learn and grow.

  • Gain exposure to other kitchen sections to support teamwork, flexibility, and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure all food items are prepared according to recipe standards and quality expectations.

  • Keep the workstation clean, organized, and in compliance with food safety and hygiene guidelines.

  • Continuously enhance pastry techniques and product knowledge through hands-on experience and self-learning.

  • Stay adaptable and perform efficiently during high-volume periods and special events.

 

Qualifications

  • NC3 in Pastry or any other similar qualifications.
  • Minimum 2 years of experiences in similar role.
  • Previous experience in a Food & Beverage/Restaurant operations role.
  • Passion for teamwork.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic preparation, presentation and preservation of food.
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety procedures.
