Business Development Manager-Finance & Capital Markets

Position Summary: The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and executing Marketing & Business Development strategies and programs for the Finance and Capital Markets practice groups.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research, draft, and independently produce materials for client meetings/interviews.
  • Support development, implementation, and follow-up activities surrounding client plans and client visits that are part of Firm’s US business development efforts.
  • Respond to domestic and international RFPs/RFIs. Liaise with lawyers, business development colleagues, and design/production teams
  • Run key business development initiatives for the US Finance and Capital Markets groups. Including client targeting exercises and business planning activities, and liaising closely with global KBD practice group heads on these initiatives.
  • Organize client seminars/conferences/webinars, including sourcing venues, preparing invite lists, mailing invitations, coordinating conference materials, and executing the event and ensuring proactive follow-up.
  • Draft, coordinate, and edit publications and client alerts. Oversee the print production process, and liaise with the internal publications team and professional support lawyers as appropriate.
  • Assist with key global business development training and program roll-outs to ensure appropriate adoption in the US, under supervision of the US Director of Marketing Business Development.
  • Design Firm-branded seminar programs on an annual basis, in conjunction with US business development team and the US PR manager.
  • Update and amend the contents of the US Finance and Capital Markets sections of the firm’s website, liaising with the website team as appropriate. Manage the development and maintenance of the US Finance and Capital Markets portions of the wiki, and ensuring business development information on the site is current.
  • Coordinate mailings for client newsletters and briefings. Maintain mailing lists and updating as necessary, using relevant systems.
  • Track inbound and outbound referrals for both US law firms, as well as a large network of Latin America law firms related to the Finance and Capital Markets practice areas.
  • Capture deals information from various sources, verifying with relevant partners/associates and updating brochures and deal lists regularly.
  • Maintain firm-wide tools and pitch databases.
  • Compile entries for a number of regular league tables and directory submissions, including collecting deal information and creating/submitting descriptions.
  • Develop and distribute internal communications such as monthly briefings.
  • Perform other Marketing & Business Development duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5-10 years of business development experience in a professional services environment.
  • Experience responding to RFPs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to collaborate with other team members.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong systems and database skills to include experience with Windows-based packages; expertise with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and demanding deadlines.
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary.
