ConnectionHub exists to advance the education and training of those who have been granted refugee status and asylum seekers and their dependents who need it, to advance them in life and to help them integrate into their host community by a ) provide equipped learning spaces for beneficiaries to participate in formal and non-formal education b) cover fees for training, exams, translation and verification of diplomas and certificates from third countries and c) provide access to online learning programs and scholarships from our partner institutions.

ConnectionHub operates in the development sector and in the humanitarian field, providing early intervention education and learning opportunities for refugees in urban areas and in camps and reception facilities such as in Lesvos, Greece, with the intention of supporting refugees to meet their learning and integration needs in order to To promote independence and social commitment and participation in the labor market. To tackle the challenges of isolation, displacement and migration, we bring together diverse volunteers: professionals, academics, students, graduates and refugees.

Job Description

We are searching for a well-organised, innovative tutor to join our team to provide tutoring to refugee students on international A Levels, IGCSEs online learning programmes or who need to revise their previous learnings to sit exams.

Classes will be held remotely as our students are based in Greece.

The tutor's responsibilities include delivering IGCSEs, IAL curriculum, using revision guides to develop course material, inspiring meaningful discussions with your student(s) and being part of a young persons’ transformational journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and delivering remote tutorials
  • Provide high quality academic, pastoral and professional support for students, including acting as personal tutor to one student or a small group of students
  • Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms
  • Identify the need for developing the content or structure of modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Academic or professional experience in the subject matter
  • Previous teaching experience with refugees, migrants or people at the margins of society and the ability to engage and inspire students
  • Self-started and highly self-motivated. Someone who can thrive with minimal supervision
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent IT skills (proficient in Microsoft packages)
  • High frustration tolerance
