Job Description

TITLE: Senior Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA (hybrid)

SCHEDULE: Full-Time

TRAVEL: < 5%

BASE COMPENSATION: $110,000 - $120,000 annually + bonus potential

As our Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the mechanical product design efforts for our continually evolving power integration devices. You will provide engineering expertise and consultation in the analysis, design, launch, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems across a wide range of technical issues.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Hardware design
    • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new components and products.
    • Develop design and verification documentation
    • Develop design concepts to meet product specifications
    • Lead design of mechanical components and assemblies from concept to production
    • Perform design analysis (thermal, structural, tolerance)
    • Develop and support prototype builds
    • Develop and execute mechanical and product test verification and validation plans
    • CAD (preferably Solid Works) proficiency to facilitate and document designs
    • Interface with Supply Chain and suppliers to incorporate DFx feedback, and transition designs to production
    • Support production and customers as needed
  • Program management
    • Assist in the day to day coordination of work with partners on new design initiatives.
  • Manufacturing support
    • Generate documentation and assist in the design of programs to evaluate and audit the manufacturing process.
  • Mentor junior staff
    • Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff, share best practices, and knowledge sharing.

You’re mission-driven and passionate about renewable energy and clean tech. You have extensive experience designing and building products that include metal, plastic and electrical components. You are experienced with various analysis methods including thermal and stress modeling. You are excited about being in the player-coach role - providing mentorship to less experienced engineers while also serving as a key contributor to the team.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 7 years of experience in mechanical component design and mechanical CAD design
  • Experience in designing plastic injection molded parts
  • Experience in designing stamped metal parts
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping
  • Thermal management design experience
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities
  • Design for manufacturability experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects in conjunction with strategic partners

 Preferred

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • PMP Certification
  • Electrical Utility industry background
  • SolidWorks CAD experience
  • Machining and prototype assembly experience
  • Interest in grid integration of renewable resources
  • Electric Utility/Grid experience
  • UL, NEC, ANSI experience
