Work experience in creating an analytical plan for a research project (ability to connect science and analytical plan for a research project) is required. Qualitative data analysis skills, collaboration, excellent interpersonal skills, and communication skills are essential. Please note there is a high priority for candidates with clinical trial experience, and publication/writing experience is needed to demonstrate thinking and scientific skills beyond simply performing the mechanics of statistical analysis. 

Job Description

Statistician to support the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) program at the headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. This position will be a hybrid position that will require ability to work at the HQ office as required. 

  • Must be able to obtain a government public trust clearance.
  • Work Sponsorship will not be considered for this position.

The candidate is responsible for coordinating and assuring integrity of all data/data systems associated with TBICoE’s clinical research activities. S/he will ensure compliance with local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements. S/he will participate in analysis and interpretation of data analysis and will assist with the preparation of technical reports and summaries. Will assist in the development/design of research data platforms for data analyses at TBICoE HQ, and clinical research network sites in support of TBICoE’s clinical research mission. May assist with internal Portfolio Management assessment, review, and analysis.

Performs data preparation/analysis activities at TBICoE network sites and HQ and provides statistical support to TBICoE’s research mission.
• Serves as either a clinical research project lead or project support as directed by TBICoE leadership.
• Performs data collection, statistical analyses, power analyses, data quality checks and applicable technical/methodological consultations as needed to support TBICoE’s internal and external TBI research stakeholders and assists in the preparation of any resulting proposals, protocols, manuscripts, posters or presentations.
• Maintains TBICoE clinical research data/databases, ensures reliable data quality that is in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Applies advanced statistical methodologies in solving complex research questions related to TBICoE’s TBI clinical research mission.
• Disseminates research results through presentations to scientific and professional groups and through publications in scientific and professional journals.
• May serve as an Investigator on TBICoE research protocols.
• Assists TBICoE HQ with scientific/programmatic review of bio statistical aspects of clinical research investigations at TBICoE HQ and clinical research network sites.
• Provides an ongoing consultation, advice and technical expertise on data analysis and statistical analysis assistance to TBICoE HQ and TBICoE’s clinical research network.
• Prepares requests for actions/proposals to include assisting with grant proposal applications, their associated documentations and requirements. Facilitates the flow and approval processes for relevant projects as needed or requested.
• Interfaces with the TBICoE HQ and authorized clinical research network

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biostatistics, health sciences research, bioinformatics, epidemiology, quantitative psychology, or a related statistical/scientific field required
  • 4-6 years of experience with TBI clinical research data analysis, statistical consultation related to human subject's research is required.
  • Qualitative data analysis skills, applied statistics background, and work experience creating an analytical plan for research projects. Connecting the science and analytical approach.
  • Publication history in peer-reviewed journals
  • Preparing manuscripts and reports
  • Knowledge of system analysis and design, SQL, data upload and statistical data set creation for data analysis
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Knowledge of standard qualitative and quantitative data collection, cleaning and analysis techniques
  • Advanced ability to use SPSS, SAS, or other statistical packages and Excel spreadsheets, including writing of syntax/formulas, manipulation of data, analyzing data, creation of output and use of other relevant products
  • Familiarity with social science research methodology and data systems
  • Adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with team members
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must complete CITI/HIPAA Training
