Job Description

Compass Government Solutions is currently hiring Physician Assistants to provide services in the Trauma Level II Emergency Room of William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX to provide coverage shifts, including Federal Holidays.

Responsibilities of the Emergency Room Physician Assistant include:

  • Conserve health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical procedures
  • Provide medical examination, care, and treatment to eligible military healthcare system beneficiaries and other patients on an emergent basis
  • Obtain adequate history, physical assessment and develop plan in a timely and appropriate manner on each patient and develop a treatment plan
  • Utilize paraprofessional staff and seek advice of consultants as appropriate
  • Prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and hospital rules
  • Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility

  • Follow up on abnormal reports, such as x-rays and lab reports
  • Responsible for a regularly appointed clinic, compatible with workload and, in addition, provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience within the last two (2) years as Physician Assistant
  • One (1) year of specialized experience working as an Emergency Room Physician Assistant or Primary Care Physician Assistant
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission for the Physician Assistant or previously recognized accrediting body
  • Must be current on all Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements or state of licensure
  • Have and maintain a current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).  Must continuously maintain certification
  • Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a PA in any of the 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the US Virgin Islands
  • Shall have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted DEA certification
  • Possess a Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) number as required by state agencies where the provider is licensed
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certifications by the American Heart Association
