Job Description

The Accounting & Finance Department at Comoto consists of highly motivated people who are encouraged to bring their skills and initiatives to the table. They drive efficiency and change to improve internal systems and processes through skills, development, and collaboration. We operate in a fast-paced, changing environment.  

This role will be part of the Accounting team and will report directly to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will bring a strong understanding of controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting to the table. You must be someone who can work independently and be able to understand basic to moderate accounting concepts. Clear communication skills, documentation skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are key requirements.

Our Next Senior Accountant Will: 

  • Perform monthly reconciliations, book accompanying journal entries and ensure the accuracy of assigned GL accounts in areas not limited to payroll, accounts receivable, benefits, credit card expenses & receivables, loyalty programs, rebates, inventory accruals, and more. 
  • Be responsible for activities relating to the maintenance of the general ledger, and related financial analysis and reports, in addition to assisting with the financial statements.
  • Apply financial concepts to financial planning and business analysis to ensure adequate controls are available to achieve the desired results.
  • Think creatively to solve complex accounting challenges.
  • Assist with any special projects that arise through the course of business.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting consistent accounting policies.
  • Support various aspects of our annual audit including but not limited to interim testing, year-end testing, and managing audit requests.

Qualifications

Our Next Senior Accountant Has:

  • 5+ years experience in accounting.
  • Retail, eCommerce, CPG, distribution, or manufacturing industry experience with an understanding of inventory accounting .
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, reconciliation principles, and accounting guidance interpretation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Excel skills, including complex formulas such as index-match, vlookups, and macros.
  • A positive attitude that likes to hustle and improve processes.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks/responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships to effectively navigate across the organization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance.

Additional Information

Preferred: The experiences listed below are not required to be qualified for the position, but is a big plus! 

  • CPA or CPA Candidate
  • Experience with JD Edwards and/or  RetailPro
