Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • you dream, develop and direct your area of ministry for growth. This means that you passionately carry the mission and vision for success in your department; providing the why, best practices, and continual coaching and evaluation for your leaders. 
  • you identify POTENTIAL leaders, looking for Community’s 5 core qualities—
  • “heart for this house.”  Does their love for God, this house, and its leaders show? Are they excited about the vision and direction of this church? Do they fit in with our culture and values?
    • winsome.  Is this person a gatherer?  Do people enjoy being around them?
  • humble.  Do they have a servant’s heart?  Are they teachable?   
  • well-spoken.  Can they communicate?  Can they get across or articulate an idea or point?  Do they make eye-contact?  (Most communication is nonverbal.)
  • emotionally stable.  Are they living life generally well in their personal, family & work lives or is there a lot of drama?  After a five-minute conversation do you sense they are secure or are they all over the place?   
  • partner with your coordinators; inviting their ideas, strategies, problem solving, etc 
  • meet one-on-one with coordinators to provide support, care, and equipping them to be their best.  How are you doing?  What are you working on?  How can I help you?
  • plan and lead training breakouts. You help to develop your team’s skill and leadership ability.
  • model, celebrate, and correct behavior to strengthen our culture and uphold Team Orange values.   

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Students Director you:

  • Recruit, train, and lead a passionately dynamic team to win increasing numbers of 6th–12th grade students to Christ and His church; developing and overseeing necessary programming and processes to ensure students are taking next steps of spiritual growth and development and becoming productive members of Community Church’s mission and vision.  Programming should include but not be limited to worship experiences, small groups, and outreach events/activities, and support of our church’s systems for personal development.  
  • Champion and oversee the programs’ communication needs and strategy to both reach new students & inform current ones of ministry programming, engagement, & support opportunities.
  • Set, measure, and accomplish SMART goals for Student Ministry in accordance with Community Church’s yearly strategic goals.
  • Annually request and successfully oversee/manage student budgets, spending, and expensing.
  • Oversee the onboarding process and volunteer experience for the student department.
  • Continually network, learn, and grow for the progressive excellence and continued implementation of departmental best practices in safety and security; ensuring leaders are doing the same.
  • Continually network, learn, and grow for the progressive excellence and continued implementation of departmental best practices in programming; ensuring leaders are doing the same.
  • Attend all staff & ministry meetings for communication, development, collaboration, and synergy of ministry efforts & development of students pre-K thru high school.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with leaders for development, support, and cascading of important communication. 
  • Helping families navigate difficult matters and ensure care and counseling is provided.
  •  Assist with other projects and/or assignments as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • A born-again, baptized Christian with a deep and growing spiritual journey
  • Agree with the Community Church “Statement of Faith.”
  •  Several years of experience in leading a creative team, preferably within a church context.
  • Skills in the visual arts, graphics, video, social media and other creative domains. 
  • Uphold Team Orange (Church Volunteer Team) values.
