Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Unified Communications Engineer to join our growing IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our enterprise-wide unified communications (UC) infrastructure. This is a senior-level position requiring deep technical expertise, particularly with Cisco UC solutions, and the ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior team members.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement UC Solutions:
- Architect, design, and implement complex UC solutions, including voice, video, instant messaging, presence, and contact center technologies.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for UC systems and processes.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging UC technologies.
- Maintain and Support UC Infrastructure:
- Proactively monitor the health and performance of the UC environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex UC issues, escalating to vendors when necessary.
- Perform regular system upgrades and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective UC solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of UC strategies and roadmaps.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure the UC environment is secure and compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect UC systems from unauthorized access and threats.
Qualifications
- Security Clearance: Candidates must have a pre-existing Secret or higher clearance, verifiable in DISS.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-level UC solutions.
- Cisco Expertise: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Cisco UC products, including:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
- Cisco Unity Connection
- Cisco Expressway
- Cisco Jabber
- Cisco Webex (including Calling, Meetings, and Teams)
- Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and QoS.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Certifications: Cisco certifications such as CCNP Collaboration or CCIE Collaboration are highly desired.
- Other Desirable Skills:
- Experience with contact center technologies (e.g., Cisco Contact Center Express, Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise)
- Experience with cloud-based UC solutions (e.g., Webex Calling)
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
