  • Full-time

Company Description

Colliers is a leading commercial real estate services company, providing a full range of services to real estate occupiers, developers, and investors on a local, national, and international basis. Services include brokerage sales and leasing (landlord and tenant representation), real estate management, valuation, consulting, project management, project marketing and research. We provide our services across the core sectors (office, industrial, retail and hotel) as well as many specialised property types.

The UK business is headquartered in London, with over 1200 specialists throughout 16 offices across the UK and Ireland.

Our retail business is one of the largest and most successful in the market, dealing with all aspects of lease advisory, agency and investment work on retail premises in London and throughout the UK.

We work at the highest end of the retail market with a turnover per fee earner which is one of the highest of any retail practice in the UK. Our clients are equally divided between landlords and tenants and we work for all of the major UK funds and property companies.

Job Description

We have recently won a number of high profile retail mandates and are looking for someone with relevant market knowledge to join us and work in our highly successful Retail Lease Advisory team.

  • This work will chiefly revolve around lease renewals, rent reviews and lease re-gears on shops, bars and restaurants in Central London and throughout the UK.
  • This will cover all aspects of the lease advisory process, from business development, initial advice, rental valuations, regear matrices, preparation of reports, negotiations and expert reports to court / PACT (if necessary).
  • In the current market, as leases are getting shorter, the emphasis is increasingly on lease renewals which are often outside the L&T Act.
  • A key part of the work therefore involves agency advice / negotiations and identifying alternative occupiers to generate competitive bidding for a unit, and so there are opportunities to work with our Retail Agency teams where opportunities arise.
  • When lease restructuring advice is needed, clients require advice on investment yields and increases in capital value. An increasing part of the work therefore also involves investment advice and subsequent sales / acquisitions, in close liaison with our Retail Capital Markets team.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience of Lease Advisory is essential, with a preference given to Retail although not essential.
  • Ability to work at senior levels, with exceptional stakholder management skills
