About the role

The Head of Content, Communications and PR is responsible for driving the strategic direction of communications content, media relations and the programming and production of multi-channel content to engage external and internal audiences for Colliers in the UK. The ideal candidate is a forward thinking and strategic individual who embraces multi-channel communication tactics, bridging traditional media with owned and social channels across online and offline environments.  

As well as devising and leading our content engagement strategy, the successful candidate will lead on delivering national and local campaigns that present our market-leading thoughts, news and insights aimed to drive engagement across channels with our enterprise and experts. Success requires editorial acumen and the ability to maintain positive relations with key industry publications and maximise our strong brand reputation and share of voice across media channels.  

This person champions our brand values, is in tune with current affairs, real estate market news and ensures our experts are trained, fully briefed and ready to deliver expert commentary in online and offline environments. They are adept at planning, hunting for, curating and executing influential Colliers’ stories and insights from a collection of our business lines by working closely with a variety of stakeholders from across the business in the UK.

The role requires someone who can take advantage of opportunities in changing business landscapes for the benefit of clients, stakeholders, and colleagues, and who is a supporter of new ways of working to improve service delivery. They can easily interpret and disseminate key information, focusing attention on the significant points in tactical output while also steering long-term strategic planning for growth with our clients. They guide and develop the team, ensure sustainability and growth, placing emphasis on succession planning and talent development.

 

Qualifications

Responsibilities of the role

  • Content Strategy
    • Develop our approach for multi-channel engagement in online and offline environments, across owned, paid, email and social channels and live events.
    • Devise and implement the content strategy to support and extend marketing initiatives, both short- and long-term, determining which methods work for the brand and why.
    • Oversee the content put out by the business to the media through email, interviews, webinars, social, research and marketing collateral, speeches, video, newsletters and emerging channels of communications engagement.
    • The development of a robust and client-focused content and editorial calendar for the promotion of research and marketing campaigns, and oversee the content strategy for Colliers blogs, thought leadership and media agenda.
    • Closely collaborate with the digital team to ensure optimisation of all content by implementing SEO best practice and planning for multi-channel success.
    • Act as a leading content champion in a major market and develop best practice.

 

  • Content & Media Relations
    • Responsible for campaigns and content, long and short form editorial output, media, social and internal communications.
    • Producing and issuing press releases from opportunities including new instructions, transactions, research reports, significant new starters and new business initiatives.
    • Co-ordinating corporate stories, managing in-bound media requests, briefing key spokespeople.
    • Helping to reinforce existing relationships between individuals and relevant journalists by arranging meetings, interviews, and networking opportunities.
    • Securing and co-ordinating press attendance at in-person corporate events and live online webinars.
    • Running the forward features schedule for relevant departments and identifying opportunities and providing material to regional and sector specific features.
    • Media evaluation; defining reporting objectives and metrics, and setting targets, and sharing successes across the business.

 

  • Corporate and Internal Communications
    • Developing and executing internal and external communications strategy for the UK business.
    • Leading on the delivery of strategic communications programmes for all our M&A activity in the UK.
    • Cascade of Regional and Global internal announcements to the UK Business e.g. M&A news, major new hires, earnings announcements,
    • Developing and implementing strategic and tactical communications plans to build the brand and promote key messages across all media - print, broadcast and social media.

 

  • Brand Reputation and Profile Management
    • Responsible for managing the brand and business reputation and for developing the company’s corporate relationships with all print, broadcast, and online media. 
    • Proactive advisor to senior leadership on communications relating to reputation management, business continuity or crisis communications.
    • Create and implement communications management policies in line with global protocols.
    • Collaborate with the digital team to monitor and elevate reputation across all digital channels.

 

  • Lead and develop the team
    • Manage and guide the content & communications team; developing the skills and career paths of our people
    • Be the authority and mentor of best practices in our brand, tone of voice, grammar, messaging, writing, and style.
    • Attend and support the business at industry events / webinars as the company/departmental representative.
    • Proactively seek out and copywrite the entries for industry awards that showcase our expertise and service.
    • Working with the marketing team and other business groups within the company to ensure that the corporate brand is properly represented externally.
    • Managing and co-ordinating the activity of all regional agencies, manage relationships and negotiate contracts with various media monitoring.
