Job Description

We have a position available for a research analyst focusing on real estate capital markets, with a particular emphasis on the Alternative sectors, including Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Build to Rent) (BTR), Healthcare, Hotels, Education, Debt and Infrastructure. The appointment is in a department with an excellent reputation across the industry, working alongside the Head of Operational Capital Markets in our UK National Capital Markets team. Successful candidates can look forward to a challenging and exciting role with broad internal and external business exposure.


This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to become our expert in what is a growing component of the real estate capital markets. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in the real estate sector, someone who is willing to learn and develop a deep insight into these specialist segments of the market by working closely with our London and national teams.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Detail Build, maintain and manage key databases relevant to the Alternatives sectors, combining third party and proprietary data to build the most accurate and comprehensive data available
  • Regular reporting on national and regional trends, in the form of published reports, short commentary and infographics
  • Work closely with PR to ensure that media coverage is maximized from regular reporting; react to media requests for analysis and comment
  • Provide some written commentary and analysis for client reports and pitches
  • Attend and present at client meetings and business pitches, when the appropriate level of experience and knowledge is reached
  • Limited client consultancy work
  • Establish what data is relevant and available through internal external sources
  • Build, manage/update in-house databases, e.g. rents, land values, occupancy rates, take-up and development schedules
  • Analytics, interpretation, infographics, tools and dashboards. Develop tools for easy data access


Marketing and PR

  • Close liaison with internal teams – Marketing, PR, Design, Agency and Capital Markets
  • Responding to regular requests from national and trade media for market data and opinion

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and skills

  • Degree in geography, economics, real estate or similar subject
  • Demonstrable experience in a related field 
  • A high degree of numeracy and technical ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate well, both orally and in written form
  • Strong presentation skills and some experience in public speaking
  • An understanding of the economic and real estate factors that influence performance in the Alternatives sectors
  • Knowledge of key economic and property data sources
  • A good team player prepared to be flexible in approach; comfortable in engaging with clients
  • Enthusiastic, inquisitive, innovative, passionate about real estate
