The Research and Forecasting department comprises a team of eight, focused in the UK economy, forecasting, capital markets, core and alternative sectors, GIS and mapping. The team will produce over 70 publications in 2019, will have presented to over 3,500 clients and provided invaluable support for a number of major new business wins.

Job Description: 

We have a position available for a research analyst focusing on real estate capital markets, with a particular emphasis on the Alternative sectors, including Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Build to Rent) (BTR), Healthcare, Hotels, Education, Debt and Infrastructure.  

The appointment is in a department with an excellent reputation across the industry, working alongside our National Capital Markets team. Successful candidates can look forward to a challenging and exciting role with broad internal and external business exposure.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Build, maintain and manage key databases relevant to the Alternatives sectors, combining third party and proprietary data to build the most accurate and comprehensive data available
  • Regular reporting on national and regional trends, in the form of published reports, short commentary and infographics
  • Work closely with PR to ensure that media coverage is maximized from regular reporting; react to media requests for analysis and comment
  • Provide some written commentary and analysis for client reports and pitches
  • Attend and present at client meetings and business pitches, when the appropriate level of experience and knowledge is reached
  • Limited client consultancy work
 
 
 
 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Good degree in geography, economics, real estate or similar subject
  • A high degree of numeracy and technical ability
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate well, both orally and in written form
  • Strong presentation skills and some experience in public speaking
  • An understanding of the economic and real estate factors that influence performance in the Alternatives sector
  • Knowledge of key economic and property data sources
  • A good team player prepared to be flexible in approach; comfortable in engaging with clients
  • Enthusiastic, inquisitive, innovative, passionate about real estate
